Indie soul rockers (i am) isis are set to perform at The Brooklyn Music Festival, Saturday, August 24 at Aviator Sports and Event Center’s Floyd Bennett Field. Presented by Novas Entertainment Group NYC, the inaugural festival is hosted by X96.3’s Platano Man and will feature an eclectic day of fun, musical performances, live art, food and drinks.
The musical lineup features a variety of genres, ranging from rock, hip-hop and salsa to pop, funk and disco. The five-piece rockers will join headliner Nina Sky, along with other Brooklyn-based bands including Anaka, Watermelon, Kagero, Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, Love Funk NYC and SONI withanEYE. The Brooklyn Nets’ dance team, The Brooklynettes, will also make a special appearance, with house DJ Ray Vasquez serving as the event’s official deejay.
(i am) isis’ high energy eclectic fusion of rock and spoken soul has proven to be a festival favorite. The band just returned from a stellar appearance at the Zeitgeist Media Festival in Hollywood and is also slated to perform at the Brooklyn Beer & Wine Fest this month. They’ve been described as haunting and mesmerizing, winning over myriad industry executives and insiders with their “fresh” take on rock and soul music.
“[Front woman] isis has her own gravitational pull,” said Jay Marcello of Dream Hygh Entertainment. “As a consultant and promoter, all sorts of music comes across my desk. (i am) isis, however, is one of the few who I actually remember and have in rotation in my iPod.”
