(Dallas, TX) Dallas-based educator Nekeya Webster has released a new guide to help teachers take the trauma out of virtual teaching in the wake of a pandemic. Virtual Teaching 911: 9 Lifelines To Make The Impossible Possible walks educators through a series of strategies and tools to reset classroom learning and recover from burnout.

New rules, processes and regulations have put all aspects of education in disarray. Students and parents were not prepared for the sudden shift—neither were teachers. Even the most gifted and capable are in crisis and burnt out. Yet, it seems everyone is looking for them to have all the answers.

“We don’t have all the answers,” said Webster, who is a certified teacher with 13 years of classroom education experience. “We’re learning at the same time as our students. Resources to help educators navigate this new normal have been primarily limited to paperwork and procedures. But how do we juggle distance learning, video calls, and interruption after interruption, without classroom and resource uniformity? How do we reinforce connections with the students who thrive on in-person engagement and the parents who have checked out? And, how do we sustain ourselves?”

On top of classroom changes and longer workdays, Webster, who gave birth during the shutdown, was also concerned about the safety of her newborn and her students, along with meeting all of the requirements that had been placed on hold at the start of the pandemics.

She, like many teachers she had connected with, was experiencing a virtual breakdown. However, Webster was able to shift her mindset with a new approach that has afforded newfound peace in the classroom.

“I am excited to share these lifelines with other educators,” said Webster. “Virtual Teaching 911 gives us a space to be seen, heard and find resolve as we continue to work through, in real-time, these unprecedented challenges.”
