Spoken soul rocker (i am) isis needs your help! The band has broken from their “no band battle” mantra to enter the Afro-Punk Battle of the Bands competition.
The soul rocker is now recruiting friends and fans to support her in her online bid to perform live at the 2012 Afro-Punk festival, which features performances by Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae and Gym Class Heroes.
“i am a HUGE fan of Afro-Punk and what it stands for. i’ve actually wanted to rock their stage for a couple of years now, so this is a great opportunity to get on!”
From now through July 14, (i am) isis will be working to garner as many fan votes as possible in order to make it to the next round. The top 16 bands will then battle it out LIVE, in line-ups of four, July 23-26 at Free Candy in Brooklyn, NY.
The winners from each show will then perform August 3 in a Finale performance. The top two bands will then rock out as openers for the Afro-Punk 2012 music festival, which includes performances by Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Gym Class Heroes and more.
