Media impresario Georgia Ellyse joins Olympic silver medalist Lashinda Demus, and moderator Bevy Smith for Girl Talk this Saturday during United Negro College Fund’s (UNCF) Empower Me Tour . Created in partnership with Wells Fargo, the UNCF Empower Me Tour helps prepare students to go to and through college and inspire them to take control of their future by using education as the foundation for achieving their goals and dreams. Celebrating its fifth year, the tour makes the second tour stop in Minneapolis and ushers in a host of celebrities to identify with students through a day of interactive exhibits, college and career workshops and engaging panel discussions.
Smith, Demus and Ellyse will discuss the mainstream media’s image of beauty that leaves minority women often confused and disconnected. The talk will also provide young women an opportunity to dialogue openly with female influencers, breaking down the perceived barriers of beauty and allows each attendee to uncover the beauty she holds within.
“I am extremely excited about speaking on the panel tomorrow for the United Negro College Fund UNCF Empower Me Tour!” said Ellyse. “It will be an extraordinary opportunity to work with strong women like 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Lashinda Demus, and entrepreneur Bevy Smith and to be used an instrument to motivate and inspire. Count your blessings!”
Girl Talk takes place this Saturday, October 13 from 10:50-11:30am at Dunwoody College in Minneapolis and is targeted towards high school and middle school students. For more information, visit www.empowermetour.org
