“Faatemah is possibly the most brilliant, entertaining and genuine person we have ever come across. Whether your question is hair related or how to overcome “mommy guilt”, Faatemah has the answer. Think of her as your stylish Hair Fairy Godmother. She will have you rolling in the floor laughing and then slap you in the face with education. #RealTalk” — The Hair Nerds
Celeb hair guru Faatemah completed Day 1 of her Trending With Texture and Retro Evolution workshops at the 2012 Midwest International Salon and Spa Expo (ISSE) in Illinois yesterday. For those who don’t know, the expo is the Midwest’s only industry fall and holiday beauty event for licensed professionals, enabling both attendees and exhibitors to capitalize on holiday shopping trends.
Trending with Texture is designed to make styling ethnic and naturally textured (read: African American) hair. “This class takes the fear out of styling multicultural hair,” said Faatemah. She shows how to manage kinky curly, relaxed and frizzy hair with ease, as well as proper tool selection and product information to help blow dry of style hair of all ethnic types. Retro Evolution celebrates classic silhouettes and styles inspired from the past with a modern twist and shows how to translate retro styles intro bridal, special occasion or editorial hair.
Check out pics below from yesterday’s Retro Evolution workshop, also featuring DW clients Georgia Ellyse as a hair model and Bailey Wanted who assisted with styling. (We absolutely LOVE when our DW clients team up for greatness!)
Day 2 of ISSE kicked off this morning at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Stay tuned for more pics and a recap of Faatemah’s experience!
