Our favorite celeb hairstylist Faatemah closed out her Trending with Texture and Retro Evolution classes this Monday at the 2012 ISSE Midwest in Rosemont, IL. with a bang!
She continued to wow with her advanced styling techniques for ethnic and naturally textured hair, along with modernized retro silhouettes and styles that she touched upon on Day 1. Famed hair stylist & educator Steve Elias stopped by one of her classes where she taught him how to create a cotton candy suicide curl. He, in turn, taught her students a few of his inside tricks.
Fabulous hair comes from fabulous education
As students and beauty insiders alike continued to be inspired by Faatemah, she said she finds inspiration in a quote from beauty industry expert Geno Stampora:
“One of the best lessons I have ever learned is this: the greatest enemy of learning is knowing. Once you think you know, you build a barrier that prevents you from becoming more.“
“That’s why education is so important to me,” explained Faatemah. “The more I teach, the more I learn. I was blown away during this experience. I am humbled and inspired to be selected to teach at these shows. My superstar students really shined through and my assistant Amy Jo showed me once again how just invaluable she is to my process.”
Not only did Faatemah impart her invaluable hair wisdom on her students, she also left a few parting gifts! Faatemah gave away styling tools from One Styling, including her favorite flat iron, the Legacy, as well as the VERGE Bubble and Ribbon Wands to a lucky winner in each class.
Faatemah, herself, received a treat visit by the amazing Hair Nerds. (“Yes, the love is totally mutual!”)
The ISSE Midwest is now over and Faatemah is back in the Twin Cities. But, if you’re in her neck of the woods, you might be able to get your coif styled in her chair at FiveTwoSix. Or, you can catch her in January at the ISSE Long Beach in California!
